US Coast Guard HH-65A Dolphin : In the early 1980s, the United States Coast Guard selected the SA 366G Dauphin (with the H-65 Dolphin DoD designation) to fill a need for a new air-sea rescue helicopter. In order to comply with US law, however, the majority of the helicopters' value had to be produced locally, and this resulted in the substitution of Avco Lycoming engines in place of the original Turboméca units, amongst other engineering changes. But problems with the new engines led in 2004 to a re-engined program to the french Turbomeca Arriel 2C2-CG turboshaft. Upgrades dolphins are known HH-65C |
