1991 UH-1N 31713 US 159776 : This crash was the result of a failure of the main driveshaft, killed all 4 on board. Shaft failed at 2500 feet AGL, induced a mast bump, sheared off mast, and also chopped off tailboom, feel into a newly planted soy field in Calipatria, California; I spent a week there recovering the bodies and the wreckage. All of the dead had recently returned from the Persian Gulf and Desert Shield Desert Storm. HMLA-169
