1976-1977, I served as crew chief on this aircraft in Mannheim Germany with the 56th Aviation. When I first saw her she had 300 flight hrs and when I left she had over 600. She was gloss OD green with plush burnt orange interior seats and matching carpet. She was the pride of the unit, and I kept her that way. Wondering what happened to her.
1980-1981, Crewed this aircraft at Giessen Army Depot, Giessen, West Germany. Was one of most northern American Airfields north of Frankfurt. We were a remote location attached from 503rd CAB located at Hanau east of Frankfurt. We had my Huey and a OH-58 on a small grass airstrip we shared with a German Glider Club just outside the back fence of the Depot by a Hawk site. Flew for 3rd Armor Division Assistant Division Commander. He was in charge of Division training. Flew him all over Gremany and to Nijmegan Holland during my tour there. Aircraft was still there when I left in November 81. Had a new tail boom and toilet bowl installed before a new paint job on it with City of Giessen crest painted on battery box door on nose.
