First built by MBB in 1978 for anti tank helicopter trials in west Germany. It was sent to Sweden for Robot 55 TOW trials in 1981 and equipped with quad tow launchers per side. Sent back to MBB the same year to become a demonstrator for weapon systems. It has since been modified and trialed several times by several countries like the UK, Egypt, Italy and Korea with several types of weapon systems and cameras like 12,7 mm FN HMP and RMP mg/rocket pods, the tow system helitow and hellfire missiles.
