1997 | C VGTJ | Aberdeen to Dhaka, Bangladesh “ I had the pleasure of ferrying this aircraft from Aberdeen to Dhaka in Bangladesh in 1997. We left Aberdeen on 1st December with $20,000 in cash and a brief to be there by Christmas. It took us 14 days and we went U/S in Dubai for a couple of days awaiting engine parts from the UK. We should have gone U/S in Dahran in Saudi but on balance, we felt it better to carry the problem to Dubai as the refreshments were better. Best fun going. Did the trip with a very good friend of mine and an excellent engineer who kept a very good eye on his two youthful (then anyway) pilots. I got to take the aircraft back to Aberdeen 6 months later but it was the height of summer so not quite so much fun when the ATIS states temperature 48 due point 1. You would be just into intercon power (T5) with the wheels still in light contact. ” | |
