History of this Base/Heliport:

  • Baldonnel / Casement is home to most of the Irish Air Corps fixed- and rotary-wing fleet. It has two main runways (W-E and SW-NE, max 1829 metres) with the main apron on the north side. Hangars range from ex-RFC/RAF days pre-1922, right up to modern buildings. The base is enclosed by the N7, R405 and the R120 roads, north of Saggart and east of Newcastle.
