The single-engine Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) and its derivative Light Observation Helicopter (LOH) were launched in February 2009 with a time frame for development is 6 years. Is a 3 Ton weight class for 6 passengers with glass cockpit and powered by one HAL/Turbomeca(now Safran) Shakti / Ardiden 1U turboshaft engine.
LUH will replace the ageing fleet of Cheetah and Chetak helicopters in Army and Air Force service.
