Requested as early as 1972 to be used from both Type 42 destroyers in service with the Argentine Navy, the first and only two Sea Lynx were delivered in 1978 and were similar to the Royal Navy HAS.2 type. They were extensively used during the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas War until mechanical failures grounded both airframes. The additional eight Lynx Mk87 already bought were not completed or embargoed after the war |

On 15may82 (CC Perciacanto, TN Loubet, SS Gonzalez) emergency landing after mechanical failure on Type 42 Destroyer ARA Santisima Trinidad (D2) part of the Argentine carrier battlegroup. Recovered but not repair. Preserved at Navy Museum (MUAN) in Bahia Blanca
