Initially used for Antarctic supply missions operating from the Argentine Navy icebreaker. After the Chinooks arrived, they were reconfigured for Search and Rescue and VIP duties

30jul15 the aircraft was NOT retired by HMMT-164. It was transferred to HMM-774 with the original ident plate stolen prior to receipt by HMM 774. It was flown today from Norfolk VA to Dulles to be inducted at the Steven F Udvar-Hazy Center on Saturday August 1, 2015. Eventually will be transferred to the Marine Corps Museum.
