Maverick Helicopters receives 500th Arriel 2D Engine
Turbomeca, February 25, 2014 - Heli-Expo, Anaheim - Turbomeca awarded Maverick Helicopters owner, Greg Rochna who took receipt of the 500th Turbomeca Arriel 2D production engine. Olivier Andriès, CEO of Turbomeca, offered him an Arriel 2D scale model to commemorate this important milestone.

The Arriel 2D is part of the Arriel 2+ family and delivers low cost, reliability and performance. The engine has collectively accumulated over 300,000 flight hours on the AS350B3e and EC130T2 helicopters.

In 1995, Greg Rochna started Maverick Helicopters with a single helicopter that was powered by a Turbomeca Arriel engine. Since then, Turbomeca and Maverick Helicopters have forged a business partnership that has resulted in the addition of the Arriel 2D engine into the growing Maverick fleet. Today, their fleet is composed of 39 helicopters all powered by Turbomeca.

Greg Rochna said, “Our relationship with Turbomeca and the quality of their engines over the years has proven invaluable to the success of Maverick Helicopters”.

At Heli-Expo, Turbomeca celebrates 40 million flying hours logged by Arriel engines. The milestone is further proof of the exceptional reliability offered by this family of turboshafts: since 1977, over 11,000 engines of the type have been produced. Many of the 40 million hours have been flown during operations in extreme conditions on 40 different types of helicopter.

Turbomeca is the leading helicopter engine manufacturer, and has produced 70,000 turbines based on its own designs since the company was founded. Offering the widest range of engines in the world and dedicated to 2,500 customers in 155 countries, Turbomeca provides a proximity service thanks to its 16 sites, 30 proximity maintenance centers, 18 Repair & Overhaul Centers, and 90 Field representatives and Field technicians. Microturbo, the subsidiary of Turbomeca, is the European leader in turbojet engines for missiles, drones and auxiliary power units
