CHC, October 26, 2016 - Brazilian Helicopter Services (BHS), the Brazilian subsidiary of CHC Helicopter (CHC), recently announced two important moves to continue to build its business in Latin America: The addition of Marcelo Luiz Da Silva Soares to serve as the new regional director for Latin America; and the grand opening of a new hangar at Jacarepaguá Airport, located in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.
Soares brings significant operational experience to CHC, with more than 35 years in the aviation and energy industries. He also has strong international experience having served as the CEO of several national and foreign industries, managing 16 countries and up to 10,000 employees.
“I am excited to join the CHC team in Rio de Janiero and look forward to serving all of our current and future customers in Latin America,” said Soares. “CHC has a proven nearly 25-year record of serving our customers in the region safely and effectively and I look forward to building on the legacy already in place here.”
The new hangar at Jacarepaguá Airport will serve Sikorsky S-76 and S-92 fleets providing passenger transport and aerial medical rescue in offshore operations. The newly renovated, 84-square-meter space includes a VIP gathering room, briefing room, and a combined X-ray and baggage check area to help customers and crews check in quickly and stay comfortable between flights.
“Our focus is on not only building our operations in Brazil, but also the rest of Latin and Central America,” added Soares. “We have a strong history serving customers in places like Uruguay, Suriname, Nicaragua and the Falkland Islands and look forward to supporting new opportunities across the region.”
