Hospital Wing purchases EC130B4
Eurocopter, March 06, 2013 - Las Vegas, Nevada – American Eurocopter announced that Hospital Wing (Memphis Medical Center Air Ambulance Service, Inc.) has purchased an Eurocopter EC130 B4.

Currently undergoing a medical interior completion at Wysong, the new EC130 B4 is scheduled to enter service in May, joining Hospital Wing’s current fleet of six Eurocopter AS350 B3es. The EC130 B4 is the 19th aircraft acquired from American Eurocopter by Hospital Wing since its inception in 1986.

“The Eurocopter EC130 B4 will provide an expanded level of patient care and increased program capability,’” said Hospital Wing CEO and Flight Director Bill Conway. “Our goal is a managed transition to the EC130 aircraft as our AStars are phased out.”

Hospital Wing is a non-profit air medical transport organization providing inter-hospital transfers as well as emergency medical service transport calls within a 150-mile radius of Memphis, an area that includes portions of West Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Alabama, and Kentucky. With more than 30,000 flight hours, "The Wing" transports an average of 200 patients per month with 60 percent trauma-related cases. Five of the seven Hospital Wing helicopters are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. One helicopter is available for the Methodist/Lebonheur Pediatric Specialty Team, PediFlite.

“American Eurocopter has enjoyed working with Hospital Wing for more than 25 years,” said Treg Manning, American Eurocopter’s Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing. “We are proud to be the sole provider of helicopters for the important work they do and we look forward to our continued relationship in the coming years.”

The EC130 benefits from Eurocopter’s Starflex main rotor and Fenestron® tail rotor, which contribute to the helicopter’s excellent performance and low noise levels. The cabin is large and comfortable for a light single-engine rotorcraft, while a fast cruise speed takes the EC130 to its destination quickly and efficiently.
