FlightSafety, February 27, 2013 - LA GUARDIA AIRPORT, New York - FlightSafety International announces that its Eurocopter EC135 Level D qualified full flight simulator, located at its Dallas Learning Center, has received Night Vision Goggle qualification from the Federal Aviation Administration.
This is the first qualification of its type under the National Simulator Program’s Guidance Bulletin 10-01.
“The Night Vision Goggle qualification of our Eurocopter EC135 simulator by the FAA demonstrates the quality and flexibility of our advanced VITAL X visual system,” said David Davenport, Senior Vice President. “FlightSafety is committed to provide training programs using advanced simulators and equipment designed to help our Customers increase operational flexibility and enhance safety.”
The NVG qualification was received after thorough evaluation and demonstration of the simulator’s ability to accurately represent Night Vision Goggle operations.
FlightSafety’s NVG training courses for the EC135 will provide in-depth instruction on the equipment and focus on the efficient and effective use of the goggles through scenario based and mission specific exercises. The training can be customized to meet the specific needs of government and military agencies; Emergency Medical Services; Law Enforcement; Search and Rescue; Airborne Surveillance; and Security, Fire and Rescue. Course development is underway and training will commence following final approval.
Night Vision Goggle training is currently available at FlightSafety’s Learning Center in Tucson, Arizona, using a FAA Level 7 qualified AS350 Flight Training Device. Other FlightSafety locations are expected to offer NVG training in full flight Level D qualified simulators in the future.
FlightSafety provides a wide variety of courses for pilots, maintenance technicians, and other aviation professionals who operate and support helicopters manufactured by AgustaWestland, American Eurocopter, Bell Helicopter, and Sikorsky.
