EC225LP Tranferred to French Air Force
France Ministry of Defence, July 11, 2016 - On Thursday June 30, 2016, the French Air Force took delivery of two EC 225 helicopters, civilian version of the EC 725 Caracal, previously used by the 32F flotilla of the French Navy.

This transfer will strengthen the helicopter component of the Air Force and follows the decision of January 19, 2015 by the General Staff of the Armed Forces General Gratien Maire.

Our components have been enriched by many exchanges and a true cultural mix between closely related units", said Lt. Col. Eric Goffinon, chief of the Air Force's Air Brigade Support and Projection Command. "In the air force, the EC 225 will be engaged in more specific missions", he adds.

In addition, the French Army EC 725 Caracal will also be transferred to the Air Force helicopter squadron 1/67 "Pyrénées", which will bring real consistency and uniformity to the helicopter fleet.

This enhanced capacity will mitigate the transfer of 3 Air Force Cougars to Army made in August 2014 and the withdrawal of the Air Force SAR (Search and Rescue) Super Puma initiated on April 2014 and to be completed by September 2016.
