Omni EC225 Back to Service for Total E&P
OMNI, February 02, 2018 - Omni Táxi Aéreo has signed a contract with Total E&P for passenger transportation and medical evacuation (medevac) coverage in Lapa’s Field, at Santos Basin.

Two H225 aircraft will be used, with capacity to carry up to 19 passengers. The flights will departure from Jacarepaguá Airport in Rio de Janeiro and are expected to occur six to nine times per week.

The contract will support Total’s operation in oil production and drilling, through offshore and 24-hour aeromedical transportation to the company, in its first asset in production operating in Brazilian Pre-Salt.

Return of the H225/EC225 to Operation

The contract also marks the return of the Airbus H225 to operation, after its suspension in May 2016. After several improvements on the main gearbox and monitoring the critical systems, the aircraft was approved to return to operations by all International Air Force Authorities in July, 2017.

During the past six months, Omni developed multiple tests, safety cases and different training methods for the operational and maintenance teams alongside Airbus for a safe and gradual return of operations. The entire crew was re-trained on the best and last generation flight simulators from Airbus, while the engineers participated on recycling programs from Helibras Training Center.

“We ended 2017 achieving a great and important oil-and-gas client: Total E&P do Brasil, that was attended by Omni three years ago,” said Roberto Coimbra, Omni’s CEO. “The present moment is very significant for both parties, because Lapa’s Field is an asset of great value and Total E&P becomes the first private oil company to operate in the Brazilian Pre-Salt.

“For Omni, it represents the big return to operations of the H225 fleet, that embodied different technical guidelines of modernization and improvements through last year. Therefore, we start 2018 confident about the new opportunities and challenges that await us, always pursuing a higher level of quality and safety for our flights.”
