Russian Helicopters boost success on Kazakhstan military aviation market
Russian Helicopters, May 21, 2014 - Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of State Corporation Rostec, will put a wide range of the latest civil and military helicopters on show at the Kazakhstan Defence Expo 2014 (KADEX 2014) international exhibition of weapons systems and military equipment, which will run from 22 to 25 May 2014 in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Russian Helicopters can be found at stand 301, pavilion 3, with Rostec, part of Rosoboronexport, Russian Helicopters’ partner in marketing military helicopters on the global market.
Kazakhstan is one of the largest operators of Russian-made helicopters in the region. The republic’s armed forces, police, and rescue services operate all the main models of helicopter produced by Russian Helicopters: the military transport and search and rescue configurations of the Mi-8/17 series, the Ka-32A11BC coaxial multirole helicopter, the Mi-24V gunship helicopter and the Mi-26(T) heavy transport helicopter.
Kazakhstan’s helicopter operators have expressed significant interest in upcoming models – the Mi-171A2 and Mi-38. Under current contracts, Russian Helicopters is to supply Kazakhstan with Mi-8AMT, Mi-171E and other serially produced models.
At KADEX 2014, Russian Helicopters will showcase military helicopters to representatives of Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry, Emergencies Ministry, and the Armed Forces. The Ka-52 Alligator next generation combat and reconnaissance helicopter was unveiled in summer 2013 at the Le Bourget airshow, and will be one of the promising models on show. Thanks to its coaxial design, the Ka-52 boasts advanced flight capabilities and is equipped with the latest avionics. These outstanding features can be complemented by a range of high-precision weaponry and a high degree of protection for both helicopter and crew.
These features, combined with the ease of maintenance and reliability that are a trademark of Russian-made helicopters together make the Ka-52 Alligator an attractive assault helicopter for many countries around the world. Its outstanding features have assured it a place in the Russian Air Force’s fleet – wh ere it is operated in a variety of conditions, including in mountainous regions or adverse weather.
Another Russian attack helicopter available on the export market is the Mi-28NE Night Hunter, built to a classic design factoring in the wealth of operational experience chalked up by the Mi- family, and also incorporating the latest aviation technology. The Mi-28NE Night Hunter is renowned for its resilience and powerful weapons systems.
The helicopter can act effectively against tanks, self-propelled artillery, armoured infantry vehicles, APCs, and military air defence units. Its on-board systems can combat low-speed and low-altitude enemy aircraft. In 2013 the Night Hunter configured for the Russian Airforce was brought into service.
At KADEX 2014, Russian Helicopters will also showcase the Mi-35M modern multirole attack helicopter, which continues to achieve the global success seen by the legendary Mi-24, which is also in service in Kazakhstan. The Mi-35M was developed on the basis of the Mi-24, incorporating the latest technologies and system. The helicopter is designed to destroy enemy armoured vehicles, provide fire support for ground forces, land para-troops, evacuate wounded personnel, and carry cargo in the cabin or on an external sling.
In addition to these military models, Russian Helicopters will showcase commercial helicopters of interest to police forces and search and rescue agencies in various countries. The models on show include the latest Mi-171A2 and the multirole Ka-32A11BC search and rescue variants. These helicopters are the latest developments in the Mi-8/17 and Ka-32 series, which have been operated in dozens of countries worldwide with great success. The Mi-171A2 is an advanced medium multirole helicopter that combines the distinguished operational history of Russian-made helicopters with the latest technological developments. The Ka-32A11BC multirole helicopter is a recognised leader in its class. The helicopter is designed for carrying out specialised search and rescue and complex construction operations, transporting loads within the cabin or on an external sling, logging, evacuating the ill and injured, complex firefighting missions, and also on patrols and to support special operations by law enforcement agencies.
KADEX 2014’s organisers include the Defence Ministry of Kazakhstan, Kazspetsexport (Kazakhstan Special Export) state enterprise, and Kazakhstan Engineering. KADEX was previously held in 2010 and 2012.
