Eleven ex-US Army Kiowas Delivered to Croatia
US Army, December 06, 2016 - By Ms Adriane Elliot - Croatia has received a shipment of 11 OH-58D Kiowa Warriors, the latest delivery in a $50 million foreign military sales portfolio managed by the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command.

The small Mediterranean nation is one of the first two nations to receive the armed scout helicopters retired by the Army as part of its 2013 Aviation Restructure Initiative.

USASAC Country Program Manager Jason Evans called the delivery a significant feat for Croatia, which "is moving more toward Western capabilities."

Evans said Croatia has not had an attack capability like this in a decade and will use the helicopters in support of NATO missions.

"This case is a testament to the United States' commitment to our NATO partners," he said. "The collaboration and teamwork that consistently go into these missions are what bolster both partner nation capabilities and U.S. strategy."

In addition to the helicopter delivery and associated training, Croatia purchased three Kiowa simulators and a spare parts and armament package.

With 35 open FMS cases, Evans said the mutually beneficial relationship between Croatia and the United States will continue to thrive.
