Carilion Clinic, May 30, 2016 - Life-Guard services at Carilion Clinic have changed quite a bit over the last 35 years.
Life-Guard has expanded from one helicopter to three with hangars in Roanoke, Westlake, Lexington and in the New River Valley and dozens of crew members that are ready for action 24/7.
To see what it really takes to be a part of an air ambulance flight crew, I spent the day with Shannan Paitsel, flight nurse; Bryan Ferguson, flight paramedic; and Devin Dell, pilot, of Life-Guard 10 in Westlake. I knew I was in good hands with this crew since they had nearly 40 years of flight experience between them, but I also quickly learned how unpredictable a day in the life of a Life-Guard crew could be.
Watch now to see how our crews seamlessly work together to provide the very best in patient care.
