Leonardo, September 05, 2016 - This year marks the 24th edition of MSPO (the Polish acronym for the International Defence Industry Exhibition), which will take place in Kielce (Poland) 6-9 September 2016 and ranks among the world’s most important events – after Le Bourget and Farnborough – dedicated to operators from the military and paramilitary sectors.
Leonardo-Finmeccanica will be at present at the event through several of its Divisions (Airborne & Space Systems, Land & Naval Defence Electronics, Helicopters and Aircraft) and its U.S. subsidiary DRS Technologies.
Leonardo-Finmeccanica boasts a long-standing industrial presence in Poland, which has been in constant development over the last 25 years. Since 1991, the Company has played a key role in contributing to the modernisation of the Polish Armed Forces, and strengthening the country’s role within NATO and the European Union, by supplying radar, coastal traffic control and secure communication and defence systems, as well as satellite communications.
In 2010, the cooperation strategy with the Polish industry was strengthened even further through the acquisition of PZL-Świdnik, a Polish company that has been manufacturing commercial and military helicopters for over 60 years, increasing Leonardo-Finmeccanica’s workforce by 3,000 employees (including highly specialised technicians and engineers).
For Leonardo-Finmeccanica, Poland is a strategic market with major collaborations in almost all the Company’s key sectors. Therefore, MSPO provides the opportunity to promote different products and technological solutions for Defence, Security and Space, including, to name just a few, the M-346 trainer, W-3PL Głuszec and AW149 helicopters, naval and avionics systems (including C4l and CSM solutions) as well as the PROSPECT prototype for the Luna-Resurs mission.
