New Sikorsky S-92 Search and Rescue Course
Flight Safety Foundation, November 16, 2015 - NEW YORK - FlightSafety announces that it now offers a new comprehensive Search and Rescue training course for pilots who fly the Sikorsky S-92 helicopter.

It is available at FlightSafety’s Learning Centers in West Palm Beach, Florida and at the Farnborough airport in the United Kingdom.

“Pilots who fly the Sikorsky S-92 will benefit from FlightSafety’s new scenario-based, mission-oriented Search and Rescue course,” said Daniel MacLellan, Vice President, Operations. “It is designed to help pilots safely and effectively prepare for search and rescue operations and gain additional real-world practical knowledge.”

The course is focused on locating, identifying, and recovering a target. It is designed to help prepare crews for risk assessment, effective Crew Resource Management, and covers aircraft performance and flight planning. It also enhances knowledge of the avionics, automated flight control system, UNS/FMS, and flight director capabilities of the helicopter.

It familiarizes the crew with the fundamental skills required to safely perform search and rescue flights through real-time, realistic VFR and IFR mission scenarios under meteorological conditions inherent to the mission such as high seas, strong winds, and icing. It also includes familiarization with search patterns, MOT (Mark on Target) and basic maneuvers associated with SAR Ops.

Scenarios are realistically presented through enhanced visual imagery that includes ship models and “survivors” in the water. The highly-detailed imagery includes direction finders, electronic position indicating radio beacons, and tracking and water activated strobes on personal floatation devices.

FlightSafety is proud to have served as a factory authorized training provider for Sikorsky since 1983. Training is currently available at FlightSafety’s Learning Centers in Dallas, Texas; Lafayette, Louisiana; Stavanger, Norway: West Palm Beach, Florida; and at the Farnborough Airport in the United Kingdom.
