UTair will be AW139 Service Centre
AgustaWestland, August 28, 2013 - AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce the signing of a Service Centre Agreement with UTair Aviation of Russia during an official ceremony held at MAKS 2013 today.

Under the agreement UTair will act as an authorized service station, providing a comprehensive range of support and maintenance services as well as an extensive spare parts inventory for AW139 twin engine helicopters in Russia.

UTair is already a certified AW139 helicopter operator with ten aircraft currently in service to perform passenger, corporate and VVIP transport missions in Russia. Aircraft are deployed and operated from bases in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Sochi and from additional bases in Siberia. The programme foresees qualification of approximately 60 pilots and 40 technicians to fly and maintain the AW139.

Daniele Romiti, Chief Executive Officer, AgustaWestland said “It gives us great pleasure to appoint Russia’s leading player in aircraft operations and one of the biggest global helicopter operators as an authorized service centre for the best selling AW139. This agreement demonstrates our commitment to providing ever increasing levels of services to customers across the nation. We look forward to further expanding our cooperation with UTair in the future.”

"Putting into operation 10 helicopters of a new type in a short time required a lot of work to prepare the flight crews and operating personnel, infrastructure and maintenance facilities. Establishment of a joint service centre is a positive step, indicating our big plans for operation of AW139 helicopters. The success of this work has once again demonstrated the professionalism and capabilities of UTair as an operator of various types of helicopters," said Faradzhaev Rashid Guseinovich, CEO of UTair-Engineering OJSC.

The AW139, thanks to its outstanding features, has been identified and selected by Russian industry as the benchmark helicopter in its category to meet a wide range of demanding requirements. The AW139 is perfectly suited not only for VIP/corporate transport purposes in Russia but also to meet a wide range of requirements in the parapublic market. Sixteen AW139s are now flying with customers in Russia and three more will be added before the end of the year, which highlights the growing success of this model in the Russian market.

The AW139 is also being assembled and delivered by the HeliVert plant located in Tomilino, near Moscow. HeliVert is a Joint Venture company established by Russian Helicopters (a subsidiary of JSC UIC Oboronprom, part of Russian Technologies State Corporation) and AgustaWestland. The plant will have the capacity to assemble up to 20 helicopters per year. Production started in mid-2012 and is progressively increasing to a steady state regime by 2015. The plant will meet the growing demand for the AW139 helicopters in both Russian and CIS markets.

UTair Aviation JSC is the world’s largest helicopter operator in terms of carrying capacity and number of rotorcraft, with more than 350 helicopters of all classes. UTair is the largest helicopter service provider to the United Nations, with cooperation agreements since1992. In Russia core clients for UTair helicopter services include the major oil and gas companies.
