The Søværnets Helikopter Tjeneste (naval helicopter service ) was formed in Jan 2004 to operate helicopters from martime assets of the Danish combined forces. This was originally to become 728 Esk but recognition of the importance of the concept has led to its creation, against a climate of consolidation in the Danish forces.
