Honduras military aviation began in 1921 when the Government bought in England a single example of the BRISTOL F.2b Fighter. In 1931, the Honduras Congress passed Decree 198 creating the Escuela Nacional de Aviacion , or National Aviation School, as an independent unit assigned to the War, Navy and Aviation Ministry. By 1938, its name had changed to Fuerza Aerea Hondureña , or Honduras Air Force.
