5 Super Frelon joined the unit in Dec 1967 and worked up, prior to 4 of them embarking on FNS Clemenceau on 8 Mar 1968, for the Pacific. 
The unit was attached to Centre des Expérimentations Pratiques de l Aéronautique Navale (CEPA) at Fréjus.
