Unit History:

805 squadron
Originally raised as a Royal Navy unit, 805 Squadron was handed over to the Royal Australian Navy on 28 Aug 1948. Fixed wing operations included Sea Fury between 1948 and 1958, Venoms between 1958 and 1968 and A-4G Skyhawks between 1968 and 1982. Rotary wing operations commenced in Jan 2001 with the Kaman SH-2G(A) Seasprite. Shore base at Nowra (YSNW), with Ships' Flights on ANZAC Class Frigates.
