Unit History:

Formed in May 1972 as the Helicopter Flight of the Malta Land Forces at St Patrick's Barracks in Luqa. It moved to Luqa (LMML) in Apr 1979. With the arrival of fixed wing aircraft, its name was changed to the Air Squadron in Jul 1992. Its role is to ensure Malta's territorial and maritime integrity, provide a SAR service and other assistance to government ministries.
