Unit History:

339 skvadron
A unit of 139 Luftving at Bardufoss. Bell UH-1B replaced by the 412SP Arapaho.
The 339 sqn. was established at Gardermoen 1 july 1956 as a fighter squadron ,operating F-86K Sabre. In 1963 the fixed-wing era was over ,and the 339 sqn. Was relocated to Bardufoss as a helicopter squadron operating Bell UH-1B. The main task for the 339 sqn. Is to support the army in the Northen Norway. The last Bell UH-1B leaves Bardufoss 16 january 1989. Today 339 sqn. Operates twelve Bell 412SP ,named Arapaho. The first Bell 412SP arrived at Bardufoss and 339 sqn. 15 september 1987.
