Unit History:

Formed from C Flight, 657 Squadron in 1947 at Andover with Auster AOP.6 and Hoverfly II, it moved to Middle Wallop in Jan 1948 and amongst other achievements recorded an altitude record of 2620m with the Hoverfly. In 1952 its parent unit changed to 652 Squadron in Germany and it became an Auster only unit. It was disbanded (and renamed 1 Flight) at Detmold on 1 Sep 1957.
