Unit History:

Originally formed in Jan 1947 in Italy as a fixed wing Air Observation Post (AOP) unit from parts of A and B Flights of 654 Squadron but subsequently disbanded in Jul 1947 to become 1910 AOP Flight. Reformed at Middle Wallop on 1 May 1950 as an RAF Helicopter Flight, (parented by 657 Squadron) before becoming 6 Flight, Army Air Corps on 1 Sep 1957 when Army flying was restructured.
