according to Flying Units of the RAF Search and Rescue Flight, Muharraq was formed in may 1959 and disbanded in may 1961.  Formed at RAF Muharraq in December 1967. Commenced SAR operations on Dawn-Dusk standby in January 1968 operating two Wessex HC2 XT601 & XT 604 The Wessex SAR Flight was formed in December 1967. Believe me I was there. |
