ITT Industries Wins Contract for Comanche Survivability System

CLIFTON, N.J., USA ( ITT Industries Press Release ) - ITT Industries, Inc. announced today that its Avionics Division was selected by The Boeing Company to provide the integrated survivability system for the U.S. Army's Comanche helicopter. Under this Engineering & Manufacturing Development (EMD) contract, ITT Industries will provide 14 aircraft systems comprised of a radar warning receiver (RWR), laser warning receiver (LWR) and point chemical detector (PCD).

The RAH-66 Comanche, an armed reconnaissance helicopter, is the centerpiece of the U.S. Army's aviation modernization plan. At the heart of the Comanche aircraft survivability system will be ITT Industries' ALQ-211(V)3 RWR sub-system, a variant of the AN/ALQ-211 Suite of Integrated RF Countermeasures (SIRFC). The ALQ-211(V)3 is a stand-alone radar warning receiver that will provide high precision direction finding capabilities to the Comanche. The ALQ-211(V)3 RWR draws upon the advanced technologies and expertise of both ITT Industries and its teammate BAE SYSTEMS.

This win further strengthens ITT Industries' position as the common aircraft survivability system supplier for the U.S. Army. ITT Industries is currently under contract to provide the electronic protection for the Army's AH-64D Apache Longbow, Special Operations, MH-47E and MH-60K helicopters and now expanded to the RAH-66 Comanche. In addition, ITT Industries is providing the electronic protection and overall electronic warfare suite management for the Air Force Special Operations CV-22 with its ALQ-211 SIRFC system.
