Thomson-CSF Wins Tiger Simulation

PARIS, France ( Thomson Training & Simulation Press Release ) - The Organization for Joint Armaments Cooperation (OCCAR) has selected Thomson Training & Simulation (TT&S) to supply the training and simulation equipment for Tiger aircrew, following an international competition which included major simulation companies.

The program is worth a total of up to 300 million euros and will be divided into several phases. It includes the entire range of crew training devices and systems for all Tiger variants, from the computer-aided training system and cockpit procedures training, to full mission simulators.

OCCAR is the European agency that manages the Franco-German Tiger helicopter program on behalf of the French and German governments. It has conducted detailed evaluations to define and acquire the most suitable training solutions.

Thomson-CSF is a major partner on the Tiger program, and supplies avionics systems, as well as electronic warfare, communication, navigation and identification systems.

Excluding the simulation contract, the Tiger program - for equipment and systems covering all versions - represents an overall stake of 600 million euros (around FRF 4 billion) for Thomson-CSF.

Commenting on the success, Thomson-CSF Chairman & CEO Denis Ranque said: "We are particularly proud of winning this contract with our German partner STN-Atlas. It gives us the opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to supply the best training and simulation equipment to the German and French armies."
