Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is being awarded a $211.8 million contract for 24 BLACK HAWK
helicopters to serve the Israeli Air Force.
Deliveries of the aircraft will take place in 2002. The new S-70A BLACK HAWK aircraft are being built under a Foreign Military Sale agreement between the U.S. Army and Israeli Air Force. In 1998, Sikorsky manufactured 15 BLACK HAWK aircraft for Israel, which also operates a fleet of former U.S. Army BLACK HAWK helicopters, as well as Sikorsky CH-53 heavy-lift aircraft.
"Our company's relationship of more than 40 years with Israel is a source of
pride," said Sikorsky President Dean Borgman. "We are grateful that the Israeli
Government has shown its confidence in the world’s toughest military
helicopter." In the past, Israel has flown Sikorsky S-55 and S-58 helicopters.
