Libyan Red Crescent Purchases Five A119 Koalas

AgustaWestland is pleased to announce that the Libyan Red Crescent has purchased five A119 Koalas. The sale of the A119 Koala for Emergency Medical Service (EMS) in Libya marks further success for the aircraft in this important market sector, having secured more than 100 orders from customers around the world.

The Libyan Red Crescent’s main activity is providing medical services through its network of health centres and clinics, but also participates in disaster relief and health education activities in Libya.
The A119 Koala offers customers high productivity and performance at a competitive price and EMS customers are taking advantage of A119’s ability to incorporate a single or dual litter configuration with full patient access for up to two medical attendants. Such attributes are unique to the A119 Koala in the single-engine helicopter market.
The A119 Koala, with its single 1,002 shp (747 kW) Pratt & Whitney PT6B-37A engine, performs far beyond the operational envelope of all other single turbine engine helicopters, even in the most demanding hot and high conditions, making it ideally suited for the Libyan climate where summer temperatures regularly rise above 40C. The A119 Koala is equipped with state-of-the-art avionics, with integrated liquid crystal displays, designed to reduce the pilot’s workload. The reliable Pratt & Whitney turbine engine, together with the aerodynamics inherited from the sleek A109, provide the Koala with excellent performance and handling. A 140 knot cruise speed (260 km/h) and a 1.4 ton useful load give the A119 Koala unbeatable productivity.
