Brazilian Company Cosan SA Takes Delivery of a Grand

UK / Italy : (AgustaWestland Press Release ) - AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is please to announce the delivery of the first Grand helicopter to Brazil. The customer, Cosan SA., will use the Grand to shuttle passengers between its plants and distilleries. The aircraft is configured with a six passenger VIP interior.

The Grand is a new top-of-the-range light twin helicopter developed to meet a wide range of roles, providing the cabin space and payload that until now could only be met by larger more expensive helicopters. Orders for more than 70 AgustaWestland Grand helicopters have been placed since its launch in July 2004. Initial deliveries commenced mid-2005 when European EASA certification was obtained.

The Grand has a maximum take-off weight of 3,175 Kg/7,000 lb. The combination of 815 shp new generation Pratt & Whitney PW207C turbo shaft engines with electronic control (FADEC) and an uprated transmission ensure outstanding performance, in both hovering and forward flight, including Full Class 1 operation. The resulting payload/range capability and the very high cruise speed make the Grand an unrivalled helicopter in its category.

AgustaWestland's light twins are the market leaders in the Brazilian helicopter market with 33 helicopters now in service, representing a market share of over 50%. With the continued success of the A109 Power and now the Grand, it is expected AgustaWestland’s share of this market will grow further.

Two Authorised Service Centres, Ultra-Rev in Rio de Janeiro and SOBRAHEL in Sao Paulo, support the growing fleet of AgustaWestland commercial helicopters in Brazil. In addition to the A109 and Grand helicopters already in service, AgustaWestland has also sold examples of the A119 Koala in Brazil and by the end of 2006 the new generation medium-twin AW139 helicopter will also be in service in Brazil.

AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is one of the largest helicopter companies in the world. The company offers an unrivalled range of helicopters, training and support solutions to satisfy the requirements of civil and military customers. AgustaWestland has its primary operations in Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
