AgustaWestland Civil Sales Take-Off In India

UK / Italy : ( AgustaWestland Press Release ) - Since the first AgustaWestland helicopter, an A109 Power, was delivered to the Government of Rajasthan in 2005 AgustaWestland has seen sales of it modern range of commercial helicopters take-off in India. In 2006 a total of seven helicopters were delivered and at least four more will be delivered in 2007, including the first examples of the Grand and AW139. This continued success is establishing AgustaWestland as a leading supplier of civil helicopters to the growing Indian market and it is forecasting it will deliver at least another 12 helicopters to customers in India during 2008-2009.

AgustaWestland has entered into a Distributorship Agreement with Sharp Ocean of Hong Kong for the region of India, Sri Lanka and The Maldives. OSS Air, as well as being an appointed Service Centre for AgustaWestland commercial helicopters has also been designated by Sharp Ocean as their co-ordinators for all sales and marketing activities in India.

In 2006 deliveries comprised four A119 Koala single engine helicopters with two each for OSS Air and AR Aviation/Viraj Steel, two A109 Power light twin helicopters to Jaypee Industries and the Jammu & Kashmir Government and finally a pre-owned A109 Power.

AgustaWestland’s wide range of helicopters from the eight-place single engine A119 Koala to the triple engine 30 seat EH101 combine speed, agility and versatility with high levels of safety and performance; making them attractive for the demanding operating conditions found in parts of India. AgustaWestland helicopters have proven there capabilities under extreme operating conditions from the extreme heat and dust of Rajasthan to the extreme altitudes, cold and inclement weather found in Jammu and Kashmir.
