Buckett RAN, SBLT(P) Rieck RAN, Lt(O) Priest-Cook RN, POACM Barnes RAN and Commander(E) Phillmore RN. Aircraft carrying out a transfer from HMAS Vampire, when winch cable possibly snagged on the ship and the ship rolled in the swell. Winch wire snapped and entered rotor head. Aircraft ditched and sank 8 NM East of Point Perpendicular. Crew picked up by HMAS Vampire
Fleet Air Arm (RAN) N7-211 : 1969 ditching, if my memory serves me correct, there was an naval exercise on and we (The Post Office) had sent out approx 27 bags of mail to be delivered by helo and apparently they were on their last delivery and pick up of mail when it happened... the mail bags were later pickup and brought back to us at Naval Post Office HMAS Albatross, we dried the mail what was wet and they caught the next mail out...Staff at 1969) the Post Office was Peter MacBeth (Postmaster), Warren Job (Postal Clerk), Jane Bennett (Postwoman)

Fleet Air Arm XT774 : I was crewman onboard Wessex HU Mk5 XT774: 845Sqn, whilst landing underslung trailer on deck Of HMS Bulwark R08 off Cyprus. Lost power, heavy landing, entered ground resonance, port undercarriage collapsed, a/c rolled onto port side, A/B AB Hughes killed by debris and A/B W Willis injured, Bulwark off Cyprus, Cat HY 17may69 (S/L DP Dixon and PO VS Warrington).
Fleet Air Arm XT774 : wreck subsequently to Lee-on-Solent, to Arbroath (HMS Condor) as G.I. airframe Feb 1970 until early 1973.

Bristow Australia VH-BHL : Early 1969, caught fire during overnight stop on offshore rig (Glomar Tasman) Sparks from funnel got in to cockpit and burnt out top section of Heli down to engine firewall (which worked in reverse!). Heli returned to UK in box
