Military 1965 Age: 20 US ATN Thomas F. Cullen, from NJ (my uncle/father brother), a member of HELASRON TWO, AntiSubmarine Squadron based aboard the USS Hornet (CVS-12) went down in the Sea of Japan, Mothers Day, 1967 on maneuvers on the way to Vietnam
the helicopter had a sonar device attached to a 'boom' lowered in the water. The water tide or wave pulled the helicopter in. Crew of 4, the pilot and navigator were rescued
2 radio operators lost. Helicopter actually went down ("NV64 went in the water") 11-May-1967. The two lost were declared dead 14-May-1967.
