1965-66, I flew in this in Vietnam. I was a crew chief with HMM-161 the pineapple squadron out Hawaii. First landed at chu lai on may 7 1965 D-day after supporting marines on the ground we moved to Hue Phu Bi. I flew 192 combat missions.Have several pictures of this helicopter in VN. Two m-60 machine guns were mounted inside the cabin. HMM-161

06dec67 I was crew chief on this plane ( had the evil eyes painted on the nose ) it was hit with automatic weapons and one RPG anti rocket, the aircraft was destroyed due to the area being inaccessible for recovery operations. I crewed this plane for about a year. We had a South Republic flag ( bars and stars ) hung in the cabin. I received 26 air medals, naval commendation medal, and a purple heart while I crew chief this plane. I have many memories both good and bad with her
