w/o 07oct64 DET.3, PARC at 12 NM west of Tan Son Nhut AB, Vietnam
wingman of downed acft requested assistance. Army L-19 called “Paris Radar” (at Tan Son Nhut) for fighter cover. Five fire teams scrambled from 68th Avn Co., 120th Avn Co. And 118th Avn Co. Total of 7 armed helicopters scrambled. Unable to land at location due to heavy ground fire by Viet Cong. Aircraft was hit, tail boom separated , and was burning on impact. Three remains were later lifted to TanSon Nhut AB.
