1968, I was the first aircraft commander at 187th AHC
“ I was the first aircraft commander on this helicopter when it arrived in Vietnam at the 187th AHC in 1968. Original name "S.A.D. Mrs.", my wife's initials. It was one of three new issue H-models and was the luckiest a/c in the unit. I probably had 600-700 hours in it primarily flying flight lead of a ten ship formation. It never had an accident or incident until I left Vietnam. More importantly, it never took a "hit" i.e., no combat damage of any kind. Best memories of my life..... ”
