Opened in 1943 Mollis has always been a fighter air base, only to be used during tension or for exercises. After the last F-5 had their exercise in 1999 the bases was destined to receive Super Puma TH 89 for exercises only. Until today once a year Super Pumas operate from Mollis for their anual two or three weeks exercise.
