RAF Stafford opened as a non-flying station in 1938. It was home to 16 Maintenance Unit (MU) until most units moved out to RAF Wittering, as it was closing as an RAF Base in 2006. It was handed over to the Army as Beacon Barracks.

Part of the RAF Museum Reserve Collection is still (2017) held in storage here.

Harrier GR.3 XZ987 / C was still Gate Guardian here in Apr 2015.
