Elwood South off Goleta / Isla Vista, began production via Holly from well 3242/1 in Jan 1967 from the Lower Miocene Rincon and Vaqueros Formations and the underlying Oligocene Sespe Formation, all at roughly 6000ft depth. Subsequent drilling around May and Jul 1969 brought the overlying Pliocene Sisquoc and Miocene Monterey Formations into production.

Holly ceased production in May 2015 as a result of a rupture in the pipeline taking its product onshore.

It is in process of being decommissioned by the State of California.
