Terendak had been a purpose built camp with airstrip before 1962. It was the base for 3 Royal Australian Regiment and then 4 Royal Australian Regiment, when they were not deployed on operations to Sarawak around 1965/66. 7 Flt AAC based its 6 Scout here from at least Jun 1968 until Jan 1970.
