Boeing-Vertol 179 / YUH-61A

The Model 179 was Boeing Vertol entry for the US Army Utility Tactical Transport Aircraft System ( UTTAS ) competition to replace the Bell UH-1 Iroquois where it lost against the Sikorsky S-70 ( UH-60 Black Hawk ).

The first of three prototypes YUH-61 built fist flew on November 29, 1974. Aircraft #56 and #58 are preserved at Fort Rucker Museum in Alabama.

The Model 237 was a naval proposal for the US Navy LAMPS III competition but it lost against the SH-60B Seahawk
