Cierva C.30

1935

Cierva built and licensed the build for these 2 seat autogiros. The C.30 and C.30A are grouped together here, as are those built by Cierva and by Avro in the UK as the Rota I. Seems to be a mix of Armstong-Siddeley Civet and Genet engines used.

Mostly built for civilian use, the RAF bought a batch of 10 and impressed others for wartime service. At least one went to Italy for military evaluation while another was used in the UK for experimental deliveries to the (then) UK postal hub at Mount Pleasant Sorting Office in central London. Exports to the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden.
