    Sikorsky VH-3D Sea King

    The first version of the Sikorsky S-61 was flown in 1959 and was originally developed as the SH-3 Sea King: an antisubmarine sensor carrier for the US Navy.

    The VH-3D was delivered to HMX-1 squadron for supports the executive transport mission for the President of the United States ( Marine One ) in December 1974 as a replacement for the VH-3A which was completely replaced by the end of 1976.

    Workshop Ships Last Marine One’ Engines, 18-Feb-21 : #MarineOne Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) at MCAS Cherry Point, NC, completed work and shipped the last T58 engines for the Presidential helicopter VH-3D. From this year the new Marine One will be the VH-92A

    New H-3 for support of presidential airlift training, 13-Dec-12 : The US Navy has awarded a $25.3 million contract to Sikorsky Aircraft Corp (SAC) in Stratford, Conn., to convert a H-3 helicopter to a flyable trainer aircraft in support of the presidential airlift program, according to contract documents released this Thursday through the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website.
