First announced in 2022, the Belgian government approved in May 2024 the purchase of 17 H145Ms (including 2 for the police) to replace the A109BAs and NH90TTHs in service. Deliveries are expected to be completed in 2027.
In March 2026, the Belgian Air Force’s first two H145M pilots completed their training and became certified Type Rating Instructors (TRI), allowing them to train and qualify future crews—marking a key step in safely introducing the new helicopter capability.
