CH-47C (Model 308) H-91 to H-93. Were received in 1980 primarily to supply Antarctic bases. On November 30 1980, H-91 and H-92 performed the first helicopter crossing between South America and the Antarctic Peninsula. The later was lost due an engine failture in January 1982 but the other two participated in the April/June Malvinas/Falklands conflict performing general transport duties. On June 9, they both flew back to the mainland to be used in a risky operation of infiltration of marines and paratroopers near Darwin, but the war ended before it could be achieved. During the rest of the 1980s they suffered an US embargo but they were restored to flight status in the 1990s. Their last service was in the firefighting role in Patagonia. Two airframes preserved.
